Welcome to Ryde Carnival 2008
Browse Ryde Carnival Association's website to give yourself a flavour of previous years' processions and a foretaste of the delights that we have in store for Carnival 2008. 2008 is the 120th anniversary of Ryde Carnival and we are hoping to have some really special events and fun this coming year so please watch out for updates and further information on our website and in the press.
The Ryde Carnival Association 2008 carnival procession entry forms are now available for download from this site. Please note that there is an additional section on both the Main and Illuminated Procession forms that must be submitted with our general entry form.
Due to an error by the printers, our Programme has a number of errors in it. We need to point out that all schools will be judged on the route during all processions to enable the judges to view all aspects of the costumes and performances.

Through the months of summer, for the amusement and entertainment of ourselves and our guests, the Isle of Wight last year staged over twenty carnivals in towns and villages around the island. Details of this coming year's other carnivals can be found elsewhere on this site. The carnival season culminates with what we like to think of as the Ultimate Isle of Wight Carnival at Ryde, featuring over 2,000 performers from carnival clubs around the Isle of Wight and admired by over 45,000 spectators. This is a sensory feast of sound, with musical influences from Rio Samba, Trinidad Steel Pan and Local bands. Movement in fabulous costumes with influences from Trinidad, Rio, Notting Hill, Venice, English Masquerade and Mardi Gras. Colour an experience like no other! Where, for a few hours, we can all forget who we are and what we do - and just party!
The Isle of Wight is a holidaymaker's dream, a jewel shimmering in the seas just south of England, a little bit of Heaven which can be easily attained, by simply stepping onto a ferry at one of the mainland ports of Portsmouth, Southampton or Lymington.
