Ryde Carnival Association likes to encourage continued learning within the island community. So we support all forms of educational courses supplied by the council and local businesses alike. Below you will find a list of all the courses available on the island. Courses tend to run from Term to Term linked to local school terms, although some are available through out the year from local businesses. This page is updated as courses finish.

Iris Folding Demonstrations

Iris folding is an easy, therapeutic and addictive way of creating cards which your friends and family will really treasure! Come along to Ryde District Heritage Centre and find out how easy it is. Suitable for anyone from 8 to 88….

Tuesday to Thursday, and Saturday 11am – 4pm.

Demonstrations throughout December, or come along and try it out for yourself. Kits and full instructions available at £5, per kit. For more details call 717435. Beginners patchwork classes at Cloth and Comfort.

We know there are many of you who have a hankering, love, or even obsession with everything creative, so here at Seaview Studio Workshop we would like to help!

You could. spend your time exploring vintage, traditional or contemporary skills, at a level that’s just right for you. Learn or develop a chosen project, under the guidance of tutors. professionals or experienced enthusiasts.

Course Description - You will learn how to make the most of your camera and to deal with all the technical intricacies of photography.
By gaining a good understanding of the fundamental principles you will know how to craft and make images.

Light
Exposure Modes (M, AV, Tv & P)
File formats and image storage
White balance and Colour temperature.

You will hone your skills through hands on experience, visual presentation , discussions and critique.

Community Learning Centre

Below is information on a number of arts and performance based courses which are on offer to visitors, adults and families on the Isle of Wight.  Some of the courses are run by independent groups and others are run via the Community Learning Centre.

The Community Learning Centre at Westridge in Ryde, runs a variety of courses covering all aspects of Carnival Arts, from basic skills, to event management, cultural diversity and photography. Most of the courses are for adults, but they do offer some family and young person courses. Below is a list of what is currently being offered.
